Neurofeedback and Neurotherapy

Neurofeedback/ Neurotherapy
works  to train better brain function, better self-regulation and better emotional control. These techniques expand the options for effective and practical solutions for clients and their families.

At The Neurotherapy Center of Virginia Beach, we provide a variety of state-of-the-art, science-based neurotherapy interventions, including :
  • Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG)/Brain Map
  • LORETA 19 channel 3-D Z score neurofeedback
  • Surface Z score neurofeedback
  • Alpha-theta-gamma training
  • Other innovative technologies as indicate by Brain Map results

We believe that it is only when an exhaustive analysis of brain functioning is performed that you can maximize the effectiveness of such therapies.  We go to extensive measures to match treatment to the patient's specific symptoms. By focusing only on areas of dysregulation, qEEG-guided Neurotherapy response times can be much shorter than taking a shotgun approach and using only guesswork as to the specific treatment that is best for the patient.  As indicated in the second video, "We need to take a look at the brain before putting anything into it."

These  well researched technologies are used to provide totally individualized neurotherapy treatment for symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, seizures, migraines, autism, learning disabilities and more.

Under the Supervision of Dr. C. Rick Ellis, Ed.D., BCN, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School(EVMS), the optimum combination of Neurotherapy procedures are utilized to promote the quickest and longest lasting symptom reduction.  Dr. Ellis is Board Certified in Neurofeedback and in qEEG.

Neurofeedback is direct training of the brain which then learns to function with greater control and stability. Showing a person their brain's electrical activity on a computer screen, and rewarding the brain for changing its activity to more appropriate patterns, is a non-medical, non-invasive way to improve brain function. This stimulates the brain's capacity to better regulate itself, producing positive changes in mood, learning, behavior, and physical symptoms.
